Tyler Loncher, a resident of Pensacola, FL is currently the visual instructor for the Gulf Breeze SoundWave and the Visual Designer for the Gulf Breeze Indoor Program. He also attends Pensacola State College. His marching experience includes Atlanta Quest, Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, and Music City Mystique. This is his first year with Southwind!
Elanders Frazier, a resident of Pace, FL, is the Co-Caption Head, Battery Arranger and Supervisor for Southwind Drum & Bugle Corps for 2018. Elanders is in his 16th year of percussion instruction and musical arrangement for middle and high schools in the Gulf Coast area. His marching performance credits include Eminence Indoor Percussion Ensemble 2003, Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps 2004 and 2005 (serving as a Percussion Captain in ‘05). In 2004, he was also a member of the first place Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps I&E Cymbal Line. He finished his marching career with Music City Mystique from Nashville, TN, in 2006 and 2007. This is his third year with Southwind!
Stephanie Maletz, a resident of San Antonio, TX, is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Music Education at the University of Texas at San Antonio. At UTSA, Stephanie is a graduate assistant for the athletic percussion program where she works closely with the front ensembles for both the Spirit of San Antonio and UTSA Indoor Percussion. Since moving to the San Antonio area, Stephanie has taught several local front ensembles, and she most recently taught at Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps. Stephanie graduated from Carroll University in Waukesha, WI with a Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education. She taught at various high schools and middle schools around Wisconsin for five years prior to moving to Texas. As an active guest conductor and clinician throughout Wisconsin, she worked with the Wisconsin Youth Wind Ensemble and returned to her alma mater to guest conduct the Carroll University Wind Ensemble as one of their Distinguished Young Alumni. Stephanie was recently featured as one of the youngest guest conductors the for theNational Band Association - Wisconsin Chapter All-State Junior Honor Band. This is her first year with Southwind!
John Gaal, a resident of Fort Worth, TX, is the 2018 Co-Caption Head and Front Ensemble Supervisor. John currently serves as one of the graduate assistants at Texas Christian University, under the direction of Dr. Brian West, where he is studying for his Masters in Percussion Performance. In 2012, John was a member of the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony and the Atlanta Percussion Group. From 2013-2015, John marched with the World-Class Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, serving as the Percussion Captain in 2015. From 2015-2016, John also marched with the World-Class indoor group, Music City Mystique. John is currently on staff with the World-Class indoor group Vigilantes Indoor Percussion. This is his third year with Southwind!
Nelson Dean, a resident of Atlanta, GA, is an educator who has worked with more than twenty scholastic and independent percussion programs in the eastern United States as an instructor, designer, and clinician, including Mill Creek High School, North Cobb High School, West Georgia Independent Percussion, DoubleStop Percussion, and Muscle Shoals High School. He has performed with Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, Atlanta Quest Indoor Drumline, Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps, and the University of Georgia Redcoat Band. This is his third year with Southwind!
Michael Ollman a resident of Atlanta, GA, is a Music Performance major at Kennesaw State University. His performance credits for both Battery and Front Ensemble include Atlanta CV, ALLIANCE, and the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. Michael teaches locally in the Atlanta area at various high schools and Independent indoor drumlines. He has worked with Harrison HS, Sequoyah HS, Woodstock HS, and Cambridge HS. He has also played with many ensembles in the Atlanta area including the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, the Georgia Brass Band, and the Johns Creek Chorale and Chamber Orchestra. This is his first year with Southwind!
Colin Slavin, a resident of Pensacola, FL is currently the part time Assistant Band Director at Pensacola High School (since 2014). He has been one of the cymbal instructors and battery visual instructor at Escambia High School since 2012. He was also the cymbal instructor for the Sacremento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps from 2015 to 2017. His marching experience includes the Escambia High School Diamonds Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, and Atlanta Quest Independent World Percussion Ensemble. Colin is currently completing his Bachelor’s degrees in music education and trumpet performance from the University of West Florida. This is his second year with Southwind!
Patrick Bantugan, a resident of Pensacola, FL , is a battery instructor/visual designer at Gulf Breeze High School. He also saves as a cymbal consultant at other various high schools on the gulf coast. Patrick currently attends Pensacola State College where he studies Psychology and Health Care Administration. His marching experiences include Atlanta Quest (2016) from Atlanta, Georgia, and the Oregon Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps (2016) from Portland, Oregon. This is his second year with Southwind!
Jerry Charvat, a resident of Pensacola, FL, is a sought after Cymbal technician and visual instructor in the gulf coast region. He is a 2005 graduate of Escambia High School. His marching credits include: 2007 Southwind Drum & Bugle Corps and 2008 Music City Mystique. His teaching experience include many high schools in the Southeast Region, the Florida State University Marching Chiefs, Big 8 cymbal line since 2010-current. Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps 2013. University of South Alabama 2014-Current. Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps 2017. Escambia High School 2005-current. This is his third year on staff with Southwind!
David Galvan, a resident of New Orleans, LA, is a central Florida native and began his marching career with West Orange High School. He continued with Tampa Bay Thunder Drum & Bugle Corps in 2013 and the Sun Devils Drum & Bugle Corps in 2014. His WGI experience includes Marcato Independent based out of Ft. Myers, Florida (2014), Infinity 2 for two seasons (2015, 2016) and aging out with Infinity World in 2017 both based from Orlando, FL. David’s teaching career began in 2014 with Lake Nona High School continuing with Oviedo High School from 2016 to present as their official Tenor Instructor. David most recently taught with Heat Wave Drum & Bugle Corps in 2017 and is now a tenor instructor for the Infinity 2 for the 2018 season. David continues to perform and strive for excellence as he is also apart of the Orlando Magic’s Drumline, Rhythm N Blue. David was cast for the 2016 NBA season and will continue for the 2017 season. This is his first year with Southwind!
Alex Nash, a resident of Orlando, FL is a percussion instructor in the Central Florida Area. His performance credits include Lake Howell High School, Timber Creek Independent in 2011, Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps in 2012, The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps in 2013, and aged out with POW Percussion in 2014. As for his teaching experience, Alex has taught several prominent Orlando-area schools, including Timber Creek and Winter Park. He taught Heatwave Drum and Bugle Corps in 2017, and is currently starting his third year with Infinity 2 based in Orlando, FL. This is his first year with Southwind!
Wil Richmond, a resident of Gulfport, MS, made his debut as a Film Score composer in 2017 and is currently contracting for future films. He received both BME and MME degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. Richmond currently serves as the assistant band director for Harrison Central High school in Gulfport, Ms, where he composes and arranges for the marching band and indoor percussion ensemble. He is a member of the Gulf Coast Band Director’s Association, Mississippi Bandmasters Association, The Gulf Coast Color Guard and Percussion Circuit, and is an educational endorser for Salyers Percussion. This is his second year with Southwind!
Nathan Ball, a resident of Vicksburg, MS, is the Assistant Band Director/ Percussion Director at Warren Central High School. Nathan Ball holds an Associates Degree from Jones Junior College and a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Mississippi. He was a member of Forte Drum and Bugle Corps for 2 years. This is his third year with Southwind!
Justin Craft, a resident of Florence, MS, is a former graduate of Mississippi College, where he received his Bachelors of Music Education Degree. Justin was apart of the 2015 Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps front ensemble and has been teaching various front ensembles in the central Mississippi area. Justin is now working on his Masters of Music Education and the University of Southern Mississippi. This is his second year with Southwind!
Johnny Hurd, a resident of LaGrange, GA, is in his 13th year as Band Director at Troup County High School. He was a member of the Auburn University Marching Band from 1998-2002. He received his Master of Music from the University of Georgia where he was a Graduate Assistant with the Redcoat Band Drumline in 2003-2004. Johnny also worked with DoubleStop Percussion in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa in 2005. Since returning to his hometown, Johnny has received his Ed.S in Curriculum and Instruction from LaGrange College. He is also a member of the Vic Firth Education Team. This is his third year with Southwind!
Daniel Cubas, a resident of Tuscaloosa, AL, is currently the Associate Director of Bands/ Percussion Director at Hillcrest High School. Previously, he served as a percussion instructor for Kennesaw Mountain High School Marching Band in 2014 which was named the 2014 Grand Nationals 3A Champions. Daniel graduated Cum Laude from Reinhardt University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. As a performer, he has been a member of the Alabama Winds, Georgia Wind Symphony, Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp (2014), and Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corp (2013). He is currently active as an adjudicator, clinician, and music arranger. This is his second year with Southwind!
Ryan Reed, a resident of Northeast Ohio area is currently the Director of Percussion for New Philadelphia HS, Carrollton HS, and Licking Valley HS. Additionally, Ryan serves as a front ensemble instructor for Matrix (2013-present) and Matrix Open (2016- present). 2018 also marks Ryan’s first year as Front Ensemble Arranger for the Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps (DCA). Previously, Ryan served as the front ensemble arranger for the Skyliners’ Drum and Bugle Corps (2016-17) as well as front ensemble instructor for the Empire Statesmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2009), Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2012), Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (2015) and front ensemble instructor/coordinator for Capital City Percussion (2013-15).
Ryan received a B.M. in Music Education from Kent State University where he studied percussion with Ted Rounds. Ryan's performance credits include: Matrix Percussion from 2006-2008, (European tour in 2008), Empire Statesmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2007 and 2009, and the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2008. In 2016, Ryan performed with Matrix International for the 2016 Chaiayi City International Band Festival in Chiayi City, Taiwan. In addition to teaching, Ryan is a designer for Downbeat Percussion and Ferguson Design Solutions. Ryan is also an endorser for Innovative Percussion and Ludwig-Musser Percussion. This is his first year with Southwind!
Kirstyn Norris, a resident of Illinois, is currently attending the University of Illinois for her Masters of Music in Percussion Performance under the guidance of marimbist William Moersch. She received her Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance from Kansas State University under the instruction of Dr. Kurt Gartner. Besides teaching, she has studied internationally in Havana, Cuba, performed in Carnegie Hall, and completed an internship at Princeton University. Kirstyn's performance credit include: Carolina Crown in 2016, (attending PASIC 2016) and Gateway Indoor Percussion in 2016. Kirstyn has performed in mixed chamber ensembles, percussion orchestras and traditional African and Cuban jazz ensembles. She has taught applied percussion, percussion methods, as well as operated her own percussion and piano studio since 2015. This is her second year with Southwind!
Robert Dickens Jr., a resident of Atlanta, GA, is an educator, arranger, and designer originally from Dothan, AL. He received his Bachelors of Music Industry from Troy University. During his tenure there, he performed with a myriad of collegiate ensembles as well as the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps of Toledo , OH. Robert currently provides percussion education products and services through FULL OUT ENTERTAINMENT. This is his first year with Southwind!
Jennifer Lewis, a resident of Auburn, AL, is currently earning a degree in Geography from Auburn University. She is originally from Pensacola, FL, where she attended Escambia High School and spent all four years performing with the marching band and indoor drumline. She has also performed with Music City Drum and Bugle Corps from 2013-2015, the Auburn University Marching Band in 2014 and 2015, Atlanta Quest in 2015, and Music City Mystique in 2016 and 2017, where she will be returning for her ageout in the 2018 season. This is her first year with Southwind!
Garrett Lambert, a resident of Pensacola, FL, is a percussion educator, performer, composer, and arranger. Originally from Tampa, FL, he earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of West Florida. As an educator, he has worked with several high school percussion programs across Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. He has performed with various ensembles including the Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, the University of South Florida, and the University of West Florida. Garrett currently arranges and composes for many marching and concert ensembles in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas. This is his third year with Southwind!
Derek Wilkerson, a resident of Central Florida, has taught percussion the past 16 years at several high schools and collegiate music programs in Florida and Colorado. He has been a performer with ensembles at Walt Disney World, Tampa Bay Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps, and Rhythm & Blue Drumline. Derek has been an instructor with the Kiwanis Kavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps and Heat Wave Drum & Bugle Corps. This is his first year with Southwind!
Ryan Jobe, a resident of Kosciusko, MS, is currently the Assistant Director of Bands/Director of Percussion for the Kosciusko School District. He is originally from Corinth, MS and earned his Associates Degree in Music from Northeast Mississippi Community College. He later went on to earn his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. Ryan was also a performing member of the 7th Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. Ryan has taught, composed, and arranged for many high school groups across North Mississippi and is an Artist for Salyers Percussion and a member of their Education Team. This is his second year with Soutwhind!
Jeremy Logan, a resident of Orlando, FL, Jeremy has been involved in the marching arts as an instructor and performer for the last 15 years and is currently the Director of Percussion at William R. Boone High School. He previously served as Percussion Coordinator at Veterans Memorial High School, Garner Middle School and Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, TX and Weslaco High School in Weslaco, TX. Jeremy was also Assistant Band Director at Covington Middle School in Austin, TX. Jeremy marched three seasons with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2004-2006 including the three-time Individual and Ensemble Percussion Ensemble Champions. He was also a member of the Louisiana State University Golden Band from Tigerland Drumline from 2003-2007 (2006-2007 Drum Captain and Arranger). Jeremy has also spent time with Auburn University(2008), and University of Texas at San Antonio (2013-2014).

He is also a graduate of Louisiana State University where he studied with Dr. Brett William Dietz and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. This is his second year with Southwind!
