Southwind blew away audiences in 2019 with huge improvement in all its captions and received the honor of the most improved Open Class corps. For the 2020 season, a new caption head in Southwind’s brass shows that the best is yet to come.

Corps Director Lawrence LeClaire announced that R. Paris Foreman has taken the reins as Brass Caption Head for the coming season. According to LeClaire, “We’re very excited to have Paris join us. With his incredible leadership and knack for building strong programs, we have a lot of excitement and momentum working for us in the coming season.”

Foreman is an expert in brass pedagogy with drum corps experience spanning three decades. He has served on several DCI brass staffs, including Music City Drum & Bugle Corps as their Brass Caption Head in 2018 & 2019. As a member of the Magic of Orlando Drum & Bugle Corps, Paris helped build the corps into a perennial top 12 finisher and won an Individual & Ensemble World Championship in 1994. He has taught countless high school bands and has been involved with 8 BOA Super Regional championships.

Foreman has a BA in Music Industry and a Masters in Business Management from Troy University. He is the Marketing Director for the RWS Music Company and a Captain in the United States Army, serving in the Alabama National Guard. Paris currently teaches General Music in Yazoo City, MS.
